Shaving, waxing, laser, electrolysis: an honest comparison
Each method has a real place, and only one is truly permanent.
Every hair-removal method survives because it suits someone. Here is the unsentimental comparison.
Shaving is free, instant, and painless, but lasts a day or two and does nothing lasting. Waxing and threading pull from the root for weeks of smoothness but hurt and can irritate or cause ingrowns. Laser offers long-term reduction across large areas, works best on dark hair, and needs a series plus maintenance. Electrolysis, destroying each follicle individually with a probe, is the only method classed as permanent and works on any hair color including gray and blonde, but it is slow and tedious over many sessions, suited to small areas.
The right choice depends on hair color, skin tone, area size, budget, and pain tolerance. Light or gray hair, which laser cannot target, points toward electrolysis. Large areas of dark hair point toward laser. There is no universally best method, only the best match, and many people sensibly combine them.
